English Air Dried Timber The Best Alternative To Kiln Dried Timber

English air dried timber is a super alternative to kiln dried timber. We source this timber locally, just up the road from ourselves in Carlisle. We start processing this timber in the Spring and we get a load every week. It arrives at our processing site in Northumberland as shown in the photos below.

Our English timber is all mixed hardwood. As we source this locally the carbon footprint is incredibly low compared to kiln dried logs, and it is also a cheaper alternative without the quality being compromised. So much so that we sent our English logs to Woodsure for testing and they came back with an average moisture of 12.75%, so they are super for burning on any fire!

Once we receive the load on-site, we then process the timber into logs which involves a lot of machinery as shown in the pictures below!

After many hours of manual labour, we fill IBC’s with the processed logs and leave them outside to dry in the air. After they are seasoned and dry we move them into the warehouse and they are available for sale. We also sell our English timber for you to season at home yourself. If you choose this option please make sure you have a moisture meter and do not burn them until they are at a moisture level of 20% or below.
